I have now had the priviledge of being a mother for 29+ years! What a blessing each of our children are to us. There has never been a question in my heart or mind that this is exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I have been blessed to be able to have my dreams fulfilled in being a stay-at-home mom, and I am truly grateful.

My story: When I grew up my mom worked. Though I was born in Torrance, CA, my family moved to Minneapolis when I was 3 (and lived there until I was 6, then we returned to CA), since that was where my parents were originally from. Due to financial difficulties my mom had to work. Being the youngest of three children I was always the last to do everything! I began my Kindergarten year by going to a family friend's home to be watched before school. After school I would ride the bus home, and enter an empty house. No one would be home for at least another 1/2 hour. There were times I was frightened because of the noises in our home (it was an older house). I would turn on the TV and watch "Make Room for Daddy" to keep myself from being scared. It was during this time that I came to know that I wanted to be at home with my children one day. I never thought badly of my parents because they couldn't do that; I just knew there would be a way for me to not put my children through what I was going through. I would make sure of that, no matter the sacrifices that would need to be made.
Thankfully, that was a dream that was allowed to come true. I think we all benefitted from my being home during their growing up years. We have a great deal of love for one another in our family and we all get along, most of the time! How grateful I am to be a mother to our four, and for our two 'children-in-law', that have brought many blessings to our family - including our wonderful grandchildren! (and those yet to be, someday)

Mom's have quiet times with their kids.

We have fun times!
But what we nearly always have is loving times --- So, for all you mom's out there, and future mom's... Happy Mother's Day! It's the best job ever!
Happy Mother's Day to you Sandi! I've left you a few tags on my blog...don't laugh when you get there. My photo thing is all messed up and I'm trying to figure it all out. Maybe I'll have to call you for blog-tech-support. Or hire Amy to drive to Idaho Falls and help me catch up in the world of cyber-communication!
ReplyDeleteI am such an emotional mess today- Happy Mother's Day Mom! It meant the world to me to have you home with us. One of my favorite childhood memories is all the times you would have baked goodies, all nice and hot, waiting for us when we came home. I love you!
