One of my favorite quotes is, "If someone drops an offense, don't pick it up."

I am absolutely positive that there have been times in my life where I have offended others. Usually I am pretty quick to apologize. I can assure you that if I have offended another it was never intentional. I don't like hurting others, it makes me sad. Inside I am a nice person - wanting to see the best in every one. I like people and I like it when others are happy!

Have I been offended? Of course! Recently? Not really. Have I had to remind myself to not pick up an offense? Yes, I have. It sure makes life easier when you are in the midst of having your own little pity party to realize that you didn't need to have that party at all, simply by making the choice to not be offended. :)

Another favorite quote of mine is "Seek first to understand, then to be understood."

Why do I like this quote? Think how much better the world would be if we all put others before ourselves when having a discussion. People are so much more comfortable when their opinions count; when their feelings are validated. Wouldn't you want to be understood first rather than someone trying to convince you of their way? It's all in the listening, the caring, and in being selfless.

Feel free to adapt my favorite quotes to your life - it may make this journey a bit lighter for you.
