Thirty-two years and counting!

The Before:

The After (currently):
I woke up this morning remembering that exactly 32 years ago right at that moment we were driving up to the Provo temple. It was 7:30 our time, 6:30 for Utah. There was no daylight savings time in March back then!

Just as we were driving up to the temple the sun was peeking over Mt. Timpanogas. Timp was covered in snow, yet there was no snow on the ground in Provo. The day was crisp and clear, and the sun was shining brilliantly. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful Spring day for our wedding/sealing.

We made the mistake of taking in a session first - Pat's idea. A couple of funny things happened to make the day more memorable... First, Pat ran into a guy that I was kind of dating when we were getting to know each other, and happily shared with him that we were getting married that morning. Second, my mom went to the wrong session because the temple called for the 'Dell' party - but it was a Del first name, not last! So, I waited for about a half hour in the brides room to get dressed for my mom. Pat and everyone else were waiting in the chapel, wondering if I had backed out. (Pat knew better, others questioned)

Following the sealing we decided we would go to lunch; and we wanted to go to the Skyroom on top of the Wilkinson Center, thinking that it would be just our family. We ended up inviting everyone so many more came then we expected. Thankfully we knew people that worked there and they made the arrangements for us. (Thanks Christian and Sydney!) We had a wonderful time. :)

After lunch we went to the bookstore, since we were all from out of town by then. There I saw people from our ward and shared with them the happy news. We parted company with our parents (our only family that could attend the temple with us) and went our separate ways.

We didn't have any money for a honeymoon, but my parents had given us some money for a wedding present. So, knowing that we would only have one night in Salt Lake before leaving to return to California the following morning, we opted to spend the night at Hotel Utah. Since we weren't having a honeymoon I wanted us to stay somewhere nice. So, there we stayed up on the 9th floor, in room 916! Right out our window was the Angel Moroni!

That's about all the details I will share of our 'honeymoon' night. I am grateful we were able to stay in Hotel Utah, sad that we will never stay there again since it is now the Joseph Smith building. However, every time I go there I go to room 916, and walk right in, because it has always just been an empty room. I wonder if that is for my benefit? ;)

So, Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband of 32 years! I am so grateful we continue to be happily married... Here's to our learning, laughing, talking, loving, understanding, growing, depending, trusting, overcoming, helping, strengthening, supporting and all of the other things that define our marriage. I am humbled because of the blessings we have received, and the blessing we have been in each others lives. I count myself truly blessed.
