One Lucky Girl: Peachy Keen!

Summer is a favorite of ours... well, for the most part. I really *dislike* the heat here. Sometimes it's as 'warm' as 115 degrees. Yucko. Fortunately for us, and Amy will swear she is being blessed because of her pregnancy, it has been a rather mild summer here. We have had temperatures ranging mostly in the 80's, sometimes in the 90's and rarely in the 100's. Usually you would reverse that - not fun!

Why is summer a favorite of ours? We LOVE our peaches! They are the best EVER! They are big and juicy and just plain luscious! Seriously, they are nearly sinful they are SO good! We have an abundance this year (yay us!) and as usual we share them with our neighbors and friends. (and they love us because we do!)

This year I decided to break out the steam canner my mom gave me eons ago (back when we lived in Ripon) and can some of our tasty treats! So, one morning I got up and canned 4 quart jars (because that was all I had on hand) and 12 pint jars. Everyone wondered why I would can only pint jars. My reasoning? It's only going to be Pat and I (I think) living here and we aren't going to be able to eat THAT many peaches at once, so I figured I would keep it small and simple.
