Slow and Steady

Samuel Joshua Dell
BYU-I Graduate, BA in Art
July 23, 2010

As the saying goes, 'slow and steady wins the race.' This is certainly true in Sam's case. We couldn't have been prouder of him as he slipped into his cap and gown, nervously and anxiously heading off to his graduation. For me it was reminiscent of his first day in Kindergarten, excited and anxious but nervous all the same. When we said 'good-bye' to him and that we would see him in the Hart bldg. for just an instant I could see my little 5 year old oh-so-clearly. When do we ever stop seeing our children as they were when they were little? After all... this was truly a grown-up sort of occasion!

This graduation journey has been a long arduous one but well worth it. Sam graduated with a BA in Art, with an emphasis on illustration. We are thrilled that he achieved this worthy goal. He has done so while raising a family, and after taking 3 years off of school. Most people wouldn't bother going back and finishing (according to statistics). At times the road was bumpy, with pot holes filled with self-doubt and hesitation, but HE DID IT!

CONGRATULATIONS SAM!!!

Commencement and Convocation were both wonderful. We were blessed to have President Clark and Elder Richard Hinckley speak at both. If you were present you had to feel the spirit - it was impossible to miss it! I plan to look up their talks and keep them for future reference (just as I have with Rachel's graduation and Elder Bednar's talk).

Congratulations to Sam!
AND to Linzi, Rylee and Sadie!
We couldn't be happier for you!
